Nothing caught or seen, fish have moved up river on the high water I think. But a very enjoyable day none the less.

Four season in one day and due to the over night rain I had to contend with four rivers in one day! Fished? 11.00 'till 19.00, by then the river had settled but I was broken! Nothing for my efforts apart from a 2lb WBT slipping the hook with a delightful triple-salchow at the end of the first glide. I'll be back though won't I?!

DC no luck with the trout but a couple of small oos grayling, GC couple of small WBT and os grayling. Cold wind made casting difficult and kept fly life at bay.
Unfortunately there was a CORMORANT working part of the lower beat so an eye needs to be kept out for the black menace.
With the floods a couple of trees have ended up in the river.
The cattle in the first field are very inquisitive so watch your back cast!

First time trying the brook, water extremely clear. Friendly dog walkers all day, some were surprised that there were fish there and that it was worth fishing for them. At least most kept their dogs out of the pool I happened to be in! Saw many trout but they also saw me.... Returned 2 about 9" on GRHE nymph. Not much of a hatch and only a couple of rises.

No fish caught or seen -- except a pike on the far bank which leapt out of the water in fright when a spinner hit it directly on the back. Thanks to WUF.

1 x trout 10 inches, on a Bastard Adams. Like most of the upper Usk above Brecon, a very beautiful beat running over slabs of broken sandstone and this one with four large pools. This part of the river occasionally produces a specimen fish - see FW's report from early this season. However, I have to admit that I struggled on this day. Nothing seen rising all morning. In the shallows, I did see a couple of small sick trout affected by fungus. Eventually, a few large dark olives showed up and I came across just two rising fish, one of which I put down, and one of which took pity on me and accepted the fly.

Fortunate to have three hours of lovely weather between 11am and 2pm. No surface activity but caught over 10 trout on ptn - largest circa 2lb. Weather deteriorated after that and the fishing with it. Hatch of grannom on upper pool about 3.30 pm. Fish not switched on to them. Left at 4pm - satisfied. Enjoyed my day - nice spot, good access and varied water. Map of beat does not show large island and it is not clear where top and bottom of beat actually is. Also no clear pathways at top and bottom. I found this unsatisfactory. Otherwise, most enjoyable.

A very good days fishing. Caught 12 plus brown trout and as many o/s grayling. All returned. Nearly all fish taken in or on the surface. Arrived to see a few fish rising in the pool below the lodge. A black klinkhammer worked in the morning. Olive patterns took fish around the middle part of the day when there was a very large hatch of march browns. Later in the afternoon fish were taking sedges off the surface and a deer hair pattern was effective.
