Overnight rain rather more than I thought left the Brook slightly coloured and still a bit high, perhaps 9".
Weather very overcast damp and foggy. Conditions did not look promising. TH using nymphs scored a decisive blank not a bump or touch, nothing. DB had four wbt all on beaded nymph and all about 8" or so. We packed after about 3 hours and went for some fish and chips at Eywas Harold only to find the chip shop was shut, but the pub was open, hurrah.

River looking beautiful and running reasonably clear. A hatch of small upwings and fish responded. I ended up landing 10 lovely fish up to around 14 inches inches. Lovely day. Fished from 9.30am - 13.00

Continued on upstream having fished Lower Longtown. I caught two more lovely fish and fished about halfway up the beat casting to sporadic rises until the rain fell hard and a strange grey mist decended putting out the sun and the fishing in one fail swoop!

Arrived late afternoon as the rain began to come down. Fished from 4.15pm for about 3.5 hrs. Despite the rain, plenty fly life about in form of Olives and Large Brook Duns. Managed only a single fish each (6-9"), but plenty missed takes off the surface. All fish returned.

Great day. Caught a salmon of 15 1/2lb from Lady Alexander's Catch on an Ally's Cascade, 9.00am this morning. No other pulls. Lovely river. Although I'm an experienced salmon angler, I'm thrilled to bits with the catch as it is my first Wye fish on my first visit.
I feel very lucky and very privileged as I thought this would take many visits getting to know the river and various beats.
