River dropping through the day, still carrying some colour. Quite a bit of debris in the water. Roved during the day landing 3 barbel and a chub. As always a great day on one of my favourite stretches of river.

Yet another fantastic day on this lovely beat. Can't believe it's already been a year since we were last here. This time not only was the weather better but so was the fishing. Had two grayling of about 12'' and one, my personal best, of about 18''. This was taken on a LT Klink and the other two were taken on a Red Tag and a Czech nymph. Lost a few as well. Last cast also saw a small wbt fall to a Czech nymph. All in all a truly memorable day. Cheers WUF and cheers to Lily my wonderful wife for arranging the surprise birthday session xxx

Sorry we're late with report but we have been away,arrived at 4pm and water temp was only just 9oC.
Waited til first light and took the first three pegs at Courtfield. Water level up at least a couple of feet and temp was still only 9.5oC by 9.30am.
Had no fish until 2.30pm and had a barbel of 7lb 2oz and another at 4.00pm of 7lb 9oz and both were pristine and that was it untill J. caught a chub of 3lb just before dusk. Great day and stayed at the Yew Tree in at Longhope on the Monmouth road and can highly recomend it.
Food and beer excellent and the rack of ribs were top notch and only 15 mins from Courtfield.

Arrived at 4am and water level up by at least 2.5ft and temp was around 9degrees. Started at 1st light and fished pegs 1,2, and 3 in Courtfield. Bright sunny day and level did drop by a couple of inches by mid pm. Had the first barbel at around 3pm and it was a pristine fish of 7lb 2oz and had to wait anothe 2 hours for the second fish which again was in excellent condition and weighed in at 7lb 9oz. We fished well into dark and J had a chub of 3lb at dusk. Stayed at the Yew Tree Inn at Longhope and can highly recommend the food, beer and the accomodation was first class.

7 trout 8 - 10 ins on nymph (Czech)- out of season all returned. Water high but not too coloured.

Enjoyed an overnight stay at the Hotel prior to a day's fishing with guide Frank Williams. We chose the middle beat. River at a nice level and good clarity. Frank took a grayling second run through whilst demonstrating Czech nymphing, a technique I had not fished before. Made our way upstream for a couple of hours (the wading can be a bit precarious in places), seeking out likely looking runs. One brownie landed and one grayling lost, several missed takes. River mysteriously coloured up for about an hour or so about lunchtime before clearing again. Two more grayling landed, one lost, more missed takes. An enjoyable day on a lovely river, good fun getting to grips with a new method.

Spent an arranged morning on Middle Hill Court which ended with a complete blank. Afternoon spent at Courtfeild back to the spot I had caught 2 from the day before, 1 bite resulted in a fine barbel 11lb 2oz, good information from Don again.

River carrying a lot of extra water and pushing hard, so fishing the slacker areas 1 to 2 rod lengths out was the approach for the day. 2 rods landed 3 barbel, all around the 7 pounds mark, plus a chub of about 4 pounds. All fish taken on the standard pellet and feeder approach.

A beautiful Autumn day in a brilliant location with stunning views. Fished the NE bank in the morning with lots of rising fish action. Caught two rainbows approx 1.5lbs on fly then moved to the SW shore mid pm and had a further two on small spinner. Only one other person fishing. NE shore littered with empty Powerbait containers. There are "fishermen" and anglers!!!

Struggled on a beat I've not seen at normal levels which didn't help as river up and pushing through. Had one chub between us although was 5lb 9oz so a decent one. Thanks WUF, will be back in Summer.
