Surprisingly quiet day on a coloured, falling river, despite the rain that came down in the morning.
One barbel 3rd cast and then two small chub during the rest of the day. Not even any evidence of an evening feeding spell towards dark. Very strange, but I guess that's the nature of the game.

3 rods caught 13 Barbel to 8lb 14oz and 2 Chub, pellet & meat being the successful baits. First time on this stretch thoroughly enjoyed the day. Watch out on this stretch, the Barbel bites were more like taps than grab your rod. Will be back.

Firstly, many thanks to the Foundation for making this lovely beat available for trotting tactics. River back in perfect condition after recent heavy rain. Both anglers used red maggots on light (3/4BB ) stick float method.
Lot of brownies caught. Out of season, all were quickly unhooked in the water and returned. Only a couple of grayling showed, best fish about 14 inches. A very enjoyable day in some lovely surroundings. Will definitely be back to try again, once we've had a couple of frosts.

Another wonderful day on this beat although the fishing was quite slow, we shared a catch of 11 barbel and 4 chub to feedered pellets, boilies and sweetcorn. A word of warning for anyone fishing this beat- the bank has collapsed in the swim nearest the tree line rendering it dificult to access safely.

Good start, ended badly. River pushing hard but fishable early on. A 7lb 6oz barbel and two around 5lb from a crease swim below hut after switching from pellet to garlic Spam. River then started to come up fast and kept rising, wrecking that swim and most others. Not another touch. At leaving time, solved dangers of dreaded exit gate (point the car up the steep ramp at an oblique angle and wait until its dark enough to pick up headlights) but found another. Someone had refastened the makeshift loop of barbed wire on the gate so tightly (must have used gloves and pliers) as to make closure almost permanent. Ten minutes of bloody struggle and a gashed thumb later,I remembered the forceps in the tackle bag and escaped a predicament caused by what seemed to me a pointed and mean-spirited action, since it was clear an angler remained on site.
