Great day. Caught a salmon of 15 1/2lb from Lady Alexander's Catch on an Ally's Cascade, 9.00am this morning. No other pulls. Lovely river. Although I'm an experienced salmon angler, I'm thrilled to bits with the catch as it is my first Wye fish on my first visit.
I feel very lucky and very privileged as I thought this would take many visits getting to know the river and various beats.

Checked out the mountain stream, to find some extra fallen trees had added to the difficulties!! Only made it more like a wilderness. Anyway, plenty of water but clear, and some olives etc were around. A few rising fish. Returned 4 between 7" and 9", 2 on para adams and 2 on GRHE. Also missed a few, so the fish are interested. Definitely worth going from now on.

Not the best time or conditions... 11.00 - 14.00, bright with a cold breeze. Very few fish seen. One to the net, about 10". Small black Klinkhammer. Beautiful beat with a rich variety of birds to distract you.

Beautiful stretch of river - 4 trout the best being around 1.5 pounds caught in the waterfall pool. All on a PT nymph, very few fish rising.

7 WBT to the net between two rods. All returned. One fish was a cracker weighing in at 2-and-a-half pounds, with the rest at a very respectable average size giving good sport. Tan and olive klinkhammers as well as parachute Adams kept the fish interested throughout the day until the rise stopped around 6.30pm.

Conditions similar to Lyepole yesterday. Water high and carrying colour plus a stiff north-easterly to boot. Despite this, I fell in love with this beat, particularly the lower meadow section. Fishing was hard and no trout were caught but patient searching with deep nymphs produced 8 grayling mostly in the 8-12inch range plus one corker measuring 16ins. Beautifully maintained, the lower two-thirds of this beat would be perfect for anglers who may struggle in more difficult terrain.
