Beat:On a coarse fishing trip...

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Having been chided by my fishing colleagues for droning on relentlessly in my last feedback report, I'll try to rectify that this time....!

4 rods:

Fri 11th Sept, Backney - 1 chub & 4 barbel (best 8-4)
Sat 12th Sept, Sheephouse - Elected not to fish, massive children's canoe event in progress plus in our view this is more of a game water than coarse.
Sun 13th Sept, Whitehouse - 2 chub & 9 barbel (best 9-11)

Beat:Preston Court (River Wye)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Tough afternoons fishing, very hot day, water low and clear-not ideal. I only fished the upstream section due to lack of access to swims without a machete/strimmer, never made it to the bottom of the beat, dog spike and rope needed on a couple of swims. One hard fighting Chub 5.6 lb on pellet.
Lovely stretch of river.

Beat:On trout fishing the Edw

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Hi Alison and Wendy. I came in yesterday to buy some vouchers and wanted to thank you for recommending R16 - the Edw at Aberedw, which you said was fishing well. It was! I completed a return but thought I'd let you know it was a fabulous day - 17 fish caught between five and about 11 inches (and all returned of course) and more three teeny ones, plus about another six hooked but which came off. Both nymph and dry fly. Only managed the first part of the split beat as I was so entralled with the fishing on the first part of the water. The weather was good too. All in all, a really very enjoyable day and I saw only one other person all day - a walker. Thanks again and best wishes.

Beat:Salmon fishing at Gromain

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Hello, we had a lovely day's fishing, unfortunately we did not take or see a salmon. The water was slightly coloured and the marker board showed just under 2ft. A beatiful beat to fly fish, as it was the first time on the Wye one of many more I hope.

Beat:Maesllwch (River Wye)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Started at noon at the New Pool - a mistake as it seemed lifeless under a bright blue sky and boiling sun. Walked over to Butlers (twice - once as a reccie and then to fish - hard work that) which was much more fishy - shade from trees on South bank and deeper water. Immediatley started getting bites and ended up with 5 fat chub.

Wild stretch of river - I even saw an Osprey at the tail of New Pool.
