Beat:Penpont (River Usk)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Stunning beat, river in beautiful nick having come down and cleared. Weather warm with patchy cloud and some bright sunshine. Some fly life coming off the river but very little evidence of fish on the surface.

2-takes on a Klinkhammer but angler half asleep on both occasions. Plenty of other wildlife including Kingfishers in abundance - perhaps they had the trout!

Beat:Llyn Bugeilyn

Fishing:All Species (in season)

26 Brown Trout caught and released upto 13inches. Most caught on a size 14 Black snatcher up until early afternoon. Caught the rest on a sz16 black Klinkhamer off the top.

Fantastic days fishing and between 3 of us I think we caught 96 fish. Fish in perfect condition! Lovely place for a days fishing - track down to the lake isnt that bad - could do with a few pot holes filling in but thats all.

Beat:Middle Hill Court (R Wye)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Middle Hill Court on the 8th. Fishing rock hard (blanked) again fished pellet. Weather again very hot, tinge of colour and a million canoes. Fished bottom of section, tried different swims (roving) and still biteless. fished 10 to 6.30. Don't think I will bother fishing this stretch again at weekends.

What a days fishing. My best mate and myself had the best days fishing ever, we counted up to eleven then stopped counting the barbel which fed all day from dawn to seven thirty when we had to go home [because of the distance back]. Best bait hallibut pellet. The instructions spot on, but we couldnt find the concrete to park on so parked at the side of the river. We have vowed to return soon. A big thanks to the foundation for all their help. Next time we will go bed and breakfast!

Beat:Lyepole (River Lugg)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

River slightly up and with a tinge of colour. Water a bit on the cool side. Bright sunny day. caught about 10 fish in all 70% trout to 30% grayling. Nothing on top and little signs of a hatch. All taken on a weighted GRHE type fly on point despite using other patterns and dries.

Fishery in good nick, bit overgrown at some access points. It seems a bit unfair that we have to respect the rights of the occupants of the cottage when they can allow children and dogs to splash about in one of the more productive stretches above the bridge. Such is life.

I did not have a very good day, I fell in because the bank was so over grown. I did catch 3 brown trout as I dried out.

Beat:Backney (River Wye)

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Fished backney on the 7th, caught 4 barbel on 17mm pellet, best 8lb. River dropped about a foot overall on the day. Bright sunshine very warm, a bit of colour in the river. Not many bites and fishing hard in certain swims, bottom end of beat seems the best area.
