I think I may have been a Little optimistic but never mind! After talking to Richard the farmer at the Leen his suggestion was to turn around and go home. Problem - ice, which apparently appeared over night. Never mind, after inspecting the river several swims were fish-able so on with the gear. The lower section from the old railway line was solid! 1 1/2hrs later stopped for a coffee break, no fish! Fished till 3.30 with variants of gold head nymphs but no joy, however it was a beautiful day sun shining birds singing and as Arni says I WILL BE BACK.
P.S. the fish were there, I saw at least 11 under the ice!

A big change from my last visit as the water had now dropped considerably and the clarity was much improved. Positively balmy 6 degrees with cloud and a light breeze.
A difficult day - I think two weeks of sub zero temperatures has had an effect and fish were well and truly switched off - the usual places failed to produce any response. Did see a salmon cutting a redd however which was really good. Persisted with bugs and got a beauty of 2 lbs + just below the footbridge and one other at 10" lower down but, that was it. Still a lovely day and good to be out after the awful conditions. Perhaps the fish have moved into those deep featureless reaches which are so difficult to read?

Blank. The weatherman had vaguely promised that the temperature might go above zero today, but it was not to be at Llyn Em, evidently. I struggled for a while with freezing rings, floating ice floes etc, but completely failed to make contact with any grayling.

Sorry for late submission
Fished the middle section which is a meandering piece of water with plenty of fishy looking pools & riffles. However after 4.5 hours of fishing heavy bugs/nymphs i only caught 1 small Grayling. River looked good, but air and water temps were very cold, with squadrons of Cormorants gracing the skies. Great looking beat with good access and by past reports a good head of Grayling.....will definitely give it another go.

The session began as a comedy of errors. For some reason I blithely drove my 2WD on to the reserved parking space, snow-covered grass as it was, without thinking much about an exit strategy. Then it struck me this might not have been entirely wise, and I experimentally spun the drive wheels for a while without moving anywhere. Decided the problem had better be dealt with right away rather than at the end of the day in falling light. An interesting hour or so packing bits of driftwood under the wheels got the car back onto the road. Ready to fish now, I had a shock as I entered the water. I had, I thought rather cleverly, mended a leak in the left leg of my old neoprene waders only the night before. And in point of fact I had no problem at all with the left leg. I was perfectly happy with that. Only now the water was pouring into the right leg, turning a dry suit into a wet suit. I fished on for a couple of hours or so and luckily turned up a single 17 inch grayling, very nice fish on a Pink Shrimp, and decided that would be enough fresh air and cold water for one day.

Very cold air temperature, -8 ice forming along the still waters and on the ferrule's. The river fished well, many grayling taken mostly 10 to 12 inches. Good fishing but poor access.

Temp -5 when I arrived! Fished Lower Bridge Pool first, fished groundbait feeder with either meat or pellet on the hook. Caught 1 chub on meat. Moved in the afternoon to Carey Brook, caught 1 more chub, on pellet. With the temperature below zero all day (-2 when I left at 4.45pm) two chub (both around 3lb) wasn't bad. The venue is in a really nice setting, while I sat fishing I saw deer on the far bank in the trees and a fox trot along the far side around dusk. Overall an enjoyable day despite the cold weather.

Minus temperatures all day combined with clear water and sun made for hard fishing. Only had 1 bite resulting in a pike of 9lb. Both the fish and the surroundings were in fantastic condition, and for once it was a pleasure to struggle! Thanks to Adam from the Foundation for trying to put me on fish, and the office for a pleasant and efficient service. Will be back soon!

Our visit coincided with a strong siberian northerly wind which added wind chill to an already low temperature - boy it was chilly! River still carrying some extra water although colour good - still quite pacy. Thank God for neoprenes! Nymphs were the order of the day and the slightly quieter water on the inside of the bends was targeted. After a slow start started to catch a few and whilst it was enjoyable it was hard work too with the wind being quite troublesome. By 3pm the cold got the better of us but we had 17 grayling and three trout between us. Best grayling a good 2lbs. Best fly pattern - Oliver Edwards' peeping caddis - weighted.
Nice beat - would like to come again when water down and weather warmer! Odd BWO stuggling out but nothing rising.
