Arrived at the river at 10.15 in dazzling sunshine to find a very heavy hatch of large dark olives all ready underway. Duns were emerging so rapidly that few remained on the water to stretch their wings. This was probably responsible for sporadic surface activity. Tackled up with a tapered 13 ft leader and 7x point [3lb fluo] and a size 14 LDO nymph. Casting into the shade on the far bank ensured regular sport. Caught six trout between 1 1/4lbs and 3/4lb one spooned fish was stuffed to the gills with LDO nymphs. Successful with olive emerger later until a downstream northerly intervened. Small hatch of march browns and grannom at 1pm. All over by 2pm. Two fish retained for supper 4 returned. Saw a stoat and a kingfisher. Got a suntan. What a fabulous day!

13 wild browns and 1 grayling in 3 enjoyable hours of fishing, all but one on flash back nymph fished under a brown klinkhammer. Best trout was around 1.5lb. A few more grannom than the previous day but the significant hatches are probably yet to come.

A good day on the first pool we got to we found a rising fish, it turned out to be an 18 inch cock fish with the beginnings of a magnificent kype. Few Flies hatching through out the day so we fished Nymphs landed another 5 fish all in the 10 -14 class then finished of the day with a another well kyped male of around 17 inches.

4 x 6-8" trout on small black lure, all returned, bright sunshine, light breeze.

4 Fish caught, all in good condition over 1lb in weight.

8 caught between the two of us. All caught bait fishing on the bottom.

A lovely day on the river; arrived during a hatch (Grannom) and saw a couple more through the day. Plenty of fish rising - but not to my fly. Saw several large fish making way down-stream, eventually caught a nice brown trout (12") on copper headed pheasant tail nymph.

Not a sausage. Water very low, very warm and sunny. No hatches worth mentioning and no fish rising. Both of us tried dries, duo, nymphs - all day without avail. Farmer mentioned chaps on previous day had also blanked.

One brown trout of 13 inches caught on an olive Klinkhammer at the lower end of the beat. That was my fourth cast and although no other fish were caught two took the fly and several snapped at it. Again the glorious "June" weather made for an enjoyable days fishing.
