8 barbel caught between three of us to approximately 7lbs - don't weight any of them unless they look near double figures. Also a small chub caught, and plenty of fish topping throughout the day. All fish taken on pellet from slower water, sometimes leaving the rod in for up to an hour before it went over. The fish were all in immaculate condition, from immaculate surroundings. Lovely day - thanks for all the advice and help at the WUF.

1st time fishing any of the WUF beats. Got there early doors and in my excitement walked three meadows only to find I'd left my bait in the car. Made the trip again, but still forgot my hali crush for blocking feeder, gutted! Had PVA, so using this method fished several swims in the morning slowly making my way back to the car for lunch. Caught 2 Barbel to 6lbs and 2 small chub on 2 8mm Halibut pellets superglued to hair with PVA stocking full of pellets. In the afternoon and once reunited with hali crush took 18 Barbel to 8lb 11oz again on 2 superglued 8mm pellets; however, this time with an open ended feeder full of pellets and blocked with hali crush. Warning! - lost several fish early in afternoon on rocks, you really do need to hall these fish up hard and to keep their heads up.
Morning vs. afternoon - was it time of day, swim, or tatctics? Guess I'll never no. Beautiful location and excellent fishing. Will definitely return. Thanks WUF!!

This was a last-minute booking having received an e-mail from the Foundation regarding late availability on this beat - much appreciated, as it helped me to decide which beat to fish! The river was still carrying some colour, but had obviously dropped significantly over the weekend. Fished from about 11am to 6.30pm, mostly in bright sunshine, so a catch of 4 barbel, with a brace at 8lb 14oz and 9lb 8oz and a single chub of 3lb 8oz seemed a fair return given the conditions. The usual pellet and meat were the successful baits.

Awesome fishing, river low, and sparse hatches of flies during the afternoon. Couple of dozen grayling nothing much bigger than a pound. and a dozen or so trout best 2lb on a Klinkhammer. Fish came to a range of pheasant tail type nymphs, Klinkhammer and Olive emerger CDC patterns. Wonderful experience of an otter fishing the same pool at the same time, seemed to be totally oblivious to me and came within a 10ft or so. still caught fish in the pool after he went through!!! Lots of other predators on beat, you may have an issue with Cormorants (*2) and goosanders. Large flock (12+) birds in the upper area of the beat.
