River low and clear. We both caught several, what looked like very small grayling, on small dry flies and small gold headed nymphs. We both managed a 12" Brown Trout caught on gold headed nymphs fished deep in the larger pools. The blustery wind made casting a little difficult and the river could have done with a bit of colour. We both had an enjoyable day and would like to fish here again when the river has got a bit more water. Just as a note we noticed that there were small areas of Japanese Knotweed appearing.
Thanks

A memorable day on this water, not least for the blustering gales making the fly landing on the water a rather hit or miss affair. The river seemed to be fining down after a spate and I was rewarded with 8 x grayling to 1 lb plus 1 trout ¾ lb plus a lunchtime visit from an otter swimming through. The fish responded to dark olive Klinkhammers and gold head Hare’s Ears in the gravel runs, taking firmly and enthusiastically. This is a lovely water with endless pools and runs and I fished and moved all day without reaching the upper boundary and still had a long walk back!

Highlight of the day was the two otters playing in the first pool I fished - one of them drifted passed me within 10 yards just looking straight at me.
On the fishing had 4 grayling averaging a pound, 3 on a klinkhammer the last one on a PT nymph.

Took my 13 Year old son with me and because of that couldn't fish the very top of the beat near the power line!
Settled in the next beat down stream, plenty of room for the two of us. Started about 0900 and fished sliding ledger with pellet on a hair rig. The River was slightly colured and slightly up due to recent rain.
After a quiet start I lost one barbel but caught another after a couple of hours, a beautiful 6 pound fish. Then my son caught his first ever barbel. He refused an eager father's help and landed the fish himself, very proud and very tired after! another 5-6 pound fish that fought like a demon.
Nothing then all day as the wind really picked up and waves appeared.
Lost a fair amount of tackle in the river, lots of snags.
Overall an enjoyable day and made up that my son caught his first ever barbel.

Despite almost perfect water conditions it was a very difficult day. We managed about 8 fish in all including two belters of 20 inches and 18 inches.
There was a big problem with Goosanders during the day, we spent the day chasing a group of more than ten from pool to pool. Maybe this would explain the low catch return.
There was also a pipe letting out hideous grey discharge at the top of the last run before the big flats at the top of the beat. It was colouring the water for quite a way down stream and did not smell too pleasant.
WUF NOTE - please report any suspected pollution to the Environment Agency's Hotline 0800 807060 immediately. Goosanders and Cormorants should be recorded on the Angling Trust's website.

Great days fishing - 19 Barbel, 1 Chub and a beautiful 2lb Perch. The beat fished well all day and each swim we fished produced a bite. The weed was a problem at times but not as bad as it has been. All fish taken on Boilies or Corn over Hemp and Pellet. The larger Barbel were found at the top end of the beat in the last few swims. Looking forward to my next day or 2 on the Wye.

Nice bit of colour to the river. Fished from 9.30 until we had to leave at 3pm. I had 2 barbel and a chub within 3/4 hour, thinking it was looking good it promptly went dead!
I moved up towards the shallower water and had a couple of chub then moved back to the deeper water. I finished with 5 chub 2 barbel, other rod blanked.
What a killer the hill back away from the river is if you try and go back to the car fully loaded.

12 trout to 14 inches and 5 grayling to 12 inches. All on dry fly on a blustery day with sporadic hatches and fish rising only during short periods of sunshine. The river was in good condition with a slight tinge from recent rain.
