Beat:Courtfield
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:1
Fished from early 0630 until 1900. I saw so many salmon in this beat that I lost count of sighting. These were both resident and travellers, I think about 20 different salmon mainly on the croys and in front of the house.
Tried everything I could think of to no good end. Don let me fish down through the "Run" last thing but without result in respect of salmon.
Final result; Salmon nil, Shad 1 about 2lb, Pike 1 about 18lb on a Mepps, Brown Trout 1 about 1 1/2lb.
Does anyone want to buy any Salmon kit? Think I'll go back to barbel.

Fishing:Trout (River)

River very low with a lot of weed and slime. Trout very wary, so pleased to catch and return 4 up to 9", as well as missing many. On a small dry olive. Lovely stretch of water but it needs rain!

Fishing:Trout (River)

Four of us had a great day, caught upwards of thirty WBT interspersed with salmon parr. Good water and plenty of rising fish-took small klinkhammers and a little black wet pattern of my own. Fished nearly all of the beat, just as it said in the passport-classic mountain stream stuff. I fell in [the classic wet sit down on a sloping river bed made of wet slate slabs.....] early on at the bottom but it did not dampen the day.

Beat:The Eyton Beat
Fishing:Trout (River)

Perfect conditions: warm, overcast and only a little wind for the most part. Only caught 4 brownies, small stuff to 7" and one grayling a little larger. Flies were Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear, Klinkhammer Dry and Coch-y-Bundu.
I think WUF need to review their pricing on this beat. Quite a large part is unfishable, in practical terms. The wooded stretches include deep pools that even chest waders are no match for. Looking at the charges for the Roving Voucher Scheme, I reckon this beat is worth £10 a day. If it contained decent-sized trout, maybe £12.50, but no more.

Beat:Wyastone Leys
Fishing:Coarse
No. of Anglers:4
Around 15 fish taken between 4 of us, fishing cage feeder and pellet. Fished as close as possible to the run-off below Boy's Rock. It's a shame fishing is not allowed in front of the cottage (immediately below the rock), and this would undoubtedly be a fantastic barbel swim. River level was too low to realistically target the shallow reaches lower down, although with a bit more water on it looks like this could produce some fish. Quite a lot of rowing boats at the lower end of the beat, though.

During 3 hours we caught 8 barbel to just over 9lb and a couple of chub. Hemp feeders and long hook lengths worked well. River up about 6 inches - lovely.

Loose weed floating down made things a bit awkward but had 4 nice Barbel on feeder and pellett. A bright day but very pleasant and the fish were a bonus.
