The weather was foul (heavy rain and blustery wind) but the fishing was surprisingly good. The surroundings are simply stunning and the river is wonderful. Oh and the fish?! Despite my bungling efforts and the awful conditions 2 WBT came to the net (both about 9 inches) - one to a spangly nymph and one to a klink. The rain did stop eventually and there was a modest evening rise with most fish taking emergers. Lost a grayling that what would have been a PB by a long way. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to make the trek again - sorry darling!

Persistent rain and a low temperature characterised this day.
I began fishing at 09.30 using nymphs of various sizes 12 - 16.
I caught 2 tommy tiddlers before the river began to colour and I had had enough, I came off at 13.00 the river having risen slightly and the water beginning to colour.
During the morning there were no rising fish, although there did seem to be a hatch at about 11am for 30 mins of what look like olives to me...not being a great entomologist. I could see little movement or fish life.

I caught four brown trout to 8 inches and two small salmon parr, all returned.
By 5pm the river had turned chocolate brown and I packed up. Interestingly the muddy water was all coming out of the Clettwr, the Wye above the confluence was clear.

Very wet and windy, low cloud - contemplated evacuting on arrival. Caught two small black finned trout on gold headed wet fly by the water lillies on East bank on way back to Boathouse - great fun little fish despite the weather. May return in better conditions. Shame to find a lot of litter around the shores - please take it home with you fishermen!

Very good day. Arrived at 1pm and fished through to evening. Consistent sport throughout, even during a heavy squall, during which fish were rising everywhere (looked liked a BWO hatch was underway). 13 fish to the net, most around 8-10 inches. 1 fish netted was around the 2lb mark. All fish fought hard and were safely returned.

Nil Return. Loads of fish showing and jumping. Tried fly and spinner. Water low.
Foundations Service, excellent.
I also had lessons the day before with John Symonds at Hereford. Great fun and he's a good instructor.

Started fishing before daybreak and ceased fishing when the first of the canoes went through the pools as given the low conditions I felt any fish present would be put off. Despite no action I thoroughly enjoyed my few hours on this beautiful stretch.
One day soon I hope to catch this beat in good nick and put an end to my run of blank days.
