Lovely day to be out on the river albeit the level was quite low. Spent all day with the double hander but no sign of any salmon, just a very small brownie which put a creditable bend in the fifteen footer for such a small fish.
A few hatches during the day but no trout rising so didn't bother setting up the trout rod.

Cloudless blue sky but a cool wind and river in good trim.
First time on this beat for us and again a lovely setting although in our opinion there isn't the variety of water / swims that exist on some of the other beats. That said it does have significantly better access to the actual water than some of the other beats and we also thought it wasn't a particularly long or arduous walk to the bottom of the beat despite the comments on the beat description. I know from previous feedback there are plenty of fish around though we didn't manage to find them and had only 1 barbel between us. Never mind, still a great day out!

Not fished the Wye this time of year before, but was pleased with the results, although not as hectic as it can be in the warmer months. River low and fairly clear, just a hint colour. Two pike of 8lb and 17lb, both to big plugs then had a go for the barbel, ended with three to 8lb and six chub to 4.5lb on pellets. Thanks WUF.

2 WBT about around the 1lb mark on a PTN (Released). Water icy cold after overnight snow on the hills. Plenty of olives coming off but no rises. Lovely few hours. (Note to self: slight wader leak at the end of one season has tendency to result in a soaking leg at the beginning of the next.)

An unbeleivable warm day for time of year. Fishing in bright sunshine and shirt sleeves. Water only 7 degrees but still managed 3 Barbel around the 8 to 9 pound mark. A lovely stretch but limited in swims due to nature of high banks.

Glorious sunny morning on the Wye; no fish until a strong olive hatch around noon, when a small grayling took a tung-head GRHE, and things looked promising. Then the kayaks came, a lurid multi-coloured flotilla of them (very polite paddlers I should say). End of fishing in such clear water; all went dead and so I packed up for lunch. At tea time on the flats at the top, trout were rising to emergers. Hooked into but lost what felt a decent one, on a hairs ear klink.
A mixed day all in all.

Pouring with rain when I arrived which made the banks very slippery. Luckily it stopped and the wind dried the banks enough to make them accessible again.
Chub caught in 4 different swims and 11 barbel from only one swim. That swim produced only barbel and was the only place I caught them! I also missed a bite in the first swim I fished recast and had a sharp pull then nothing brought it in to find the hook was gone, pike perhaps or bitten off by a chub.
I met the farmer who expressed concern about lost tackle injuring his sheep. He had picked up at least 2 lures with treble hooks that could have cost the lives of his livestock.
