Nothing rising so used to team of 3 spiders and 3mm ptn as point fly had a eventful afternoon had two to the net 8 and 10 inches and managed to lose 9 all had taken the spiders not sure what that was all about, . Put it down to lack of ability .Great afternoon lovely peaceful beat, easy wading got to be one of my favourite's on the Usk.

First visit to Wyebank for a couple of years, it didn’t dissapoint, I took my nephew for his first ever visit to the Wye, he had 3 chub & 1 barbel on the feeder, but, topped it off with a barbel on the float, amazing , it took me 2 seasons to do that! All my fish caught trotting, barbel ranging from 3- 9lb +, Chub to 4lb, I’ll be back for another visit soon.

Very promising conditions. Nice pace, bit of colour, possibly a little low. Cloudy most of day, with a few sunny intervals.
First fish came after about an hour, and one missed bite. Smashed rod off rest, could only have been a Barbel. Good fight. Fish in superb condition, probably just under 7lb.
Second fish about a hour later. Smaller, but still quite a fight. Probably around 3lb mark. Again, in lovely condition.
Both fish fell to ledgered Halibut pellet.
Angler on beach on opposite bank was very successful, taking lots of Chub on trotted bait, and then ledgering. He had one good Barbel.
Pleased, because recent reports seemed to suggest Barbel were proving very elusive here. Fair to say, they're present now.
Lovely stretch. Will return before Autumn.
2 Barbel
