Another very good day. Flow good and more or less clear water now. I caught steadily all day, half on nymphs and half - including the best of the day - on a dry. Two fish over a pound today.

First time for a while that a bad back that had precluded fishing for the last month or so had eased up AND a reasonaby stable few days (weather wise), so I toook the opportunity to visit my local wild stream beat this afternoon.
Whilst I didnt hook up, I had 5 rises to small dry flies in a couple of hours. Good to be out and mobile again.
The stream itself was reasonably clear and a nice hight compared to the last few days when fairly heavy rain had rendered it muddy

River was dropping off but Still plenty of colour and the sun was shining. Had 1 small chub and a Barbel of 3.8lb this was mid morning on feeder double krill 6mm dumbell. Nothing more until evening session where I had 2 chub biggest around 3.8lb then 2 more Barbel up to 5lb again on krill. Was hoping for another but as the river was on the way down chub was attacking the feeder which left nothing for the barbel. Still amazing day amazing settings.

The barbel however were not obliging with only two between us. Overall an excellent day’s fishing in a beautiful setting.

Strong, cold downstream wind seemed to suppress the hatches. A few rising fish beneath sycamores saved the day. There are now cows, calves and a bull in the field, but they were placid enough.

A cold westerly breeze kept the fish down with but a few feeding on midge,BWO and Olive Uprights. Access remains a struggle and winter floods have created some steep bank drops to a summer low river.
Best fish was probably nudging 3lb but my photography skills does not do it justice.

Not really worth getting your boots wet. Most of the beat is unfishable. Very shallow even after heavy rain. Most deep pools are completely covered by trees. I have fished wild streams for 20 years and am used to obstructions but this is just not worth the bother. I would say wading is quite challenging due to the river bed being strewn with slippery boulders.
