Didn’t fish. Judging by the severity of the thunderstorms in Swansea , I’m glad I decided not to go waving a bit of graphite around today.

Very enjoyable day mix of fly coming off but fish seemed to be taking below the surface. All fish taken on small nymphs fished clink and dink style.

Grabbed an evening ticket as in the area, but as it turned out, only managed a couple of hours. Headed to the top of the beat as another angler lower down. Rose a couple of fish to dries, then as the rain started at 7pm, had a good fish on - briefly. Heavens had now opened and looked set-in, so headed back to the car. Lovely looking beat. Will return for a longer session.
Cracking early dinner at the Walnut Tree cafe prior to fishing.

Great day’s fishing despite challenging conditions. Bright sunshine for most of the day and the river was finally showing its bones. Most fish caught on dry fly though lots of chopping and changing required given the smorgasbord of insects. Several fish lost including a couple of lunkers.

Fished p.m., dry Klinkhammer with spasmodic hatches & rises in faster shallower water. The trout brought to hand were 6 to 8 inches with 2 larger fish shedding the hook when airborne. The day ended early with thunder, lightning & torrential downpour.

Lovely day with two trout caught and safely returned , both roughly half a pound. Bright hot sunshine in the morning with an upstream breeze, clouded over in the afternoon , breeze dropped and a few fish started to rise. Pretty stretch of the river.
