First time to this beat. A very enjoyable day trotting maggots. River quite high and pushing through.
Small fish, except a bonus OOS brown of just over a pound. My first Grayling, which i am delighted about.
Challenging fishing in some parts due to trees having fallen in, but plenty of swims generally to have a go at.
Thank you again WUF

Chilly day, river very clear and had settled to a manageable level, much safer for wading than pre Christmas levels.
All 4 caught in the first hour, raising my expectations for the rest of the morning but the fishing gods decided that was my allocation for the day!
Main lesson from this trip was a reminder to get the nymphs to the bottom as there seemed to be immediate results when I adjusted depth where I felt I was fishing too shallow.
Great to get on the river after the recent poor weather, always fun on this great stretch of river.
No photos this time as just too cold to faff around and get the phone out :)

Fished 1000-1700. Had one bite at 16:15 and landed a nice chub around 4lb. Fished the top field and tried two swims. Feeder and lead, tried boilies, 8mm pellet, meat. The chub fell to a squid and octopus boilie. Not quite the days sport I had hoped for but by far the best maintained WUF beat I have fished. Steps, ropes etc very useful. Thank you. Will be back.

The river was looking good after all the floods but the grayling were hard to find. We caught lots of out of season trout on heavy nymphs but the grayling were hiding.

River was in perfect condition , a lovely tinge and nice flow . Bites from the off and it continued for most of the day . Biggest Grayling went 1lb 140z , most being around the pound . A number of the Grayling had wounds from I assume the gooseanders that appeared at regular intervals

Trotting maggot for grayling.
This fishery remains a shadow of what it was ten years ago, nevertheless a lovely place to spend a day.

Landed 2 lost 2, wasn’t really expecting much. First time on the beat. Only fished a few hours as it was bloody cold. Leaky waders.
The lower beat didn’t feel very good for grayling. The upper beat much more so, would definitely recommend crossing at the bridge and walking around the house, down to the lower pools.
