Fishing:Coarse

Standard feeder and ledger tactics. Attempting to avoid smaller fish with bigger baits. Very hot and bright day so we weren't expecting much but managed to get the barbel feeding. All fish decent stamp - biggest barbel between 6-7lb, biggest chub 4lb.

Beat:Whitney Court
Fishing:Coarse
No. of Anglers:4
Fished beats 4 & 5 Whitney Court Fishery, eventually. Initially tried to fish beat 5 from Locksters Farm, but once unloaded were confronted by an angry couple telling us we couldn't park or fish there, contrary to the fishery instructions. We had a chat with them being diplomatic but then headed back to the other access point. I understand this is an ongoing issue as other anglers have reported similar. Anyway enjoyed the rest of our day but didn't get much. Fish caught on luncheon meat.

Area:Irfon & Ithon
Beat:Llanddewi
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
Bright warm day, 0.2m on Llanddewi gauge. 2 parr picked up on nymphs from the faster sections of water, a couple of better sized brown trout hooked but lost. Late afternoon as it was getting a little darker landed a ~13" Grayling and 14" brown trout from the head of a fairly slow run with a lot of tree cover. Both fish on an olive dubbed body, bead-headed nymph with a soft hackle (size 16 hook with 2.8mm bead). Fished 3'-4' under a NZ style indicator.

Beat:Wyebank
Fishing:Coarse
No. of Anglers:1
3 anglers on the bank. 2 sharing a swim and rods. River just over the croys and running through fast (in my opinion and experience). Bank side paths well trodden with a few more 'dangerous' parts. Plenty of flat sections in the bank to fish from of various sizes.

We caught throughout the day, but spent a lot of time just trying to find swims that were fishable / accessible. A 4x4 made exploring easier. Caught some big barbel with 6 of the 12 caught going 10lbs plus.

Area:Tees
Beat:Raby Estate - River Tees
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
First time fishing the River Tees. Wasn't sure how to fish the rocky sections, so stuck to swinging a pair of traditional wets down and across on the slower water. Very windy on the upper beat by Crockley Bridge, so headed to the Dent Bank Beat in the afternoon. Pleased to pick up a couple of brownies on both beats and there was always enough going on to keep things interesting. Wading was treacherous for the uninitiated, but it was no problem fishing from the bank. Really enjoyable day's fishing and look forward to returning next year.
