It was good to be back on this beat after a few years absence. Access is perfect and being able to drive to the river (in a 4x4) makes for a great day. We only fished until early afternoon as the weather forecast was looking grim for later in the day.
Fished a number of swims and caught some nice chub. Many thanks to all involved .. it is very much appreciated.

Another memorable day on a very beautiful and interesting stretch of water. The river had risen a few inches and had a slight tinge to it, which probably explained why most of the fish were taken on nymphs. I managed a trout and grayling to 16" – lovely fish in anyone's book. It's certainly challenging under foot, amongst the slippery bedrock and slimy river bed stones – a wading staff is a must! Come 3pm, the heavy rain had set in, so it was time to quit while I was ahead and head home.

Started fishing dry olive patterns at the top of the beat above the bridge at around 8am. Cloudy muggy weather. Several fish rising and one took my fly but I failed to connect. By 9am rises had petered out and rain started. Fished down the whole of the rest of the beat through the day in the pouring rain. Did not see another rise or connect with anything all day. Lovely beat and fun day albeit very soggy!
