Lovely day fishing the lower beat. River level lowish on Brecon gauge, weather overcast in the main with some periods of sun.
Four wbt to the net each, the biggest just over 2lb. Two fish took green and silver perdigons while euro nymphing. The other fish all to small dry flies (bwo, dynamite harry, iron blue dun) cast up stream. In addition, we both had several fish hooked and lost after demonstrations of acrobatics from the fish. As usual the wildlife added to the day - including red kites, widgeon and little owls. Thanks to Harry for putting us onto a great (less often fished) fishing spot.

Lovely evening on the Usk, just an evening ticket. Half a dozen to the net from 1/2 - 1.1/2 lb in size, the same lost IDF the hook. Not much doing in the earlier half of the evening with the Sun still up and glare on the water. They switched on to a solid hatch around 8:30-9:30 then came off the feed as the hatch diminished. Big upright mayfly dry used. Bigger fish found in the downstream half of the beat tucked into the willows sipping at the hatch. Beautiful water, thank you!

Four Browns, two bows. Both bows taken.
Caught on wets on a floater and the bows on an intermediate and black minkie and hot head leech patterns. Fishing from the boat more productive than the bank
