This report is for 2 anglers CT and AW.

A heavy overnight frost and ice to clean off the windscreen again before we set off putting doubts in my mind as it did last week - even though we had a good day last week after the frost the night before.
Unfortunately It was not to be the same this week - no Barbel showed all day, and it was hard going but we still managed to catch.

CT - 4 Chub - biggest weighed in at 4lb 15oz - this is this biggest Wyebank Chub caught all season!

AW - 2 Chub

6 Chub

River in fine condition after recent rain and fish were feeding most of the day. Fished the 1st swim upstream from the wooded section using meat - caught 1 decent chub and 3 barbel (7 to 8 lb) but lost another 4 due to a snag about a 3rd the way across that they seemed to aim for. A good but frustrating and expensive day!

The banks were very slippery following overnight rain which limited swim choice. Fortunately the Barbel were in a feeding mood and 7 good sized fish were caught all on pellet.

A good day. Water was low and pretty clear. Sunny periods and warm. Quite a bit of slimy green algae. But none the less my colleague ( there were two of us) hooked 10 grayling either 6 to hand, and I managed 6 with four to hand. 3 or 4 decent fish of around 12 inches and all beautifully marked. Good to see the WUF staff checking out the weir.

Just 6 degrees in the morning so cold start which seemed to put the fish off. Warmed up by lunchtime and the chub started feeding, mainly coming to luncheon meat. Disappointed not to catch any barbel but, once again, an enjoyable day.

Chub on the small size, up to about 2lb, mostly taken trotting. Stopped using maggots due to the number of out of season trout about 6-12oz. Perhaps there ought to be a trout fly fishing permit availain season?
Entertained for a while by an otter slowly fishing its way upstream - I for one am more than happy to share the river with them. All in all an enjoyable day, even though I couldn't find the bigger fish.

5 Trout, 10 Chub
