Afternoon session undr a covered weather and mild weather (15C). A few ephemera danica and (what I identified as) brook duns were around. Despite little surface activity, I hooked a few trouts with a large deer hair mayfly in the ripples.

First time fishing the beat. Only fished half the water at a leisurely pace, but what a day. 12 trout ranging from 8 to 11 inch all beautiful and putting up a good account for themselves. Taken on graying bugs, baetis and may fly patterns.

Three beautiful fish from the Nyth before lunch. 12lb, 12lb and 8lb. The 8lb was a bar of silver. All three caught on a small conehead cascade.

Arrived early. River steady at 1.0m carrying a grey/green colour (not the usual Real Ale tint). Very fishable though. No salmon or trout seen. Had two very firm takes in 10 minutes late morning on Upper Rock pool. The first fish head showed on the surface. A bit unfortunate but kept me focused all day!

My previous trip to this beat the river was high and coloured, this time it was just right.

The day started with some light rain, with rest of the day being cloudy, with little wind.

On arrival as it was raining I put on a nymph but four fish rising in quick succession, saw me change to the dry and after a couple of missed takes I had a nice plump fish in the net.

There were sporadic rises throughout the day, so I fished clink and dink. A couple more fish came to dry but I missed them, mainly because I just wasn't expecting it. The other two, including a lovely 15 inch fish, were taken on GHRE variant.
