First time on this stretch. First two barbel came in the first hour along with the chub. Had to wait until late afternoon for the third barbel. Nice stretch, good accessibility and will certainly fish here again.

2nd time on this beat, looks great but both times have been unable to work out where to fish and what methods are working. Tried the float no bites, went on the feeder some bites from small fish could not hook them. Last resort ground bait and pellet feeder, one bite and biggest ever barbel close to 10lb,

Great fish but just cannot get to grips with this beat.

Arrived at the Home stretch of the River Wye just as it was getting light. It was overcast, raining hard and the river was carrying a slight tinge of colour and had a good pace to it. Within twenty minutes of starting to fish we had our first fish of the day and we continued to catch over the course of the day resulting in seven barbel (6lb 1oz, 6lb 4oz, 7lb 9oz, 8lb 7oz, 8lb 10oz, 9lb 8oz and 9lb 11oz) and a chub (5lb 7oz) between us.

All fish were caught on running leger rigs with paste wrapped hookbaits and PVA bags of pellets.

Al Ward landed an 8lb Cock fish from the head of little Glaswyn on a orange & red CK fly - his first Welsh fish. The fish was quickly measured and released strong.

Paul Richardson lost an acrobatic hen fish in the tail of the next pool. Perhaps a future Spawning pair? No redds visible yet, other fish seen at the top of the beat.

Charlie the Riverkeeper was delighted as this is the 1st Salmon caught here in 5 years.

A slower day with all but one fish coming after 4pm. Fish eventually responded to baiting-and-resting the swims. A second double figure barbel in two days capped off the trip at 10lb 13oz.

Second consecutive tough day - had one early and thought it was going to be good but apart from losing one at dusk very quiet. Lovely day though.

Another tough day, but a last minute move from the woods to the meadow paid off in the shape of an 11lb 2oz barbel.
