Travelled down from Yorkshire today so only fished from 5-7.30pm. 40mins of that was spent sheltering under the trees snapped off...

Checked the weather before making the descent and light rain showers were forecast. Just a short evening session, light showers and a big hill - waterproofs it is... mistake, big mistake.

We just got cast out then the heavens opened, and didn't stop for the best part of an hour. Fishing was very difficult and I snapped off on a rock playing my first barbel. I then had 5 casts in a row where I snapped off in rocks. When the rain finally ceased everything including us was absolutely soaked. Got cast out again and lost another barbel to a hook pull. It looked like a blank was on the cards but then the fish started feeding well. I ended up with 2 barbel around 6lb and my dad had 6, the biggest being a new pb of 9lb 6oz. It was a long slog back up the hill with everything soaked but it was worth it!!

3 anglers fished. River low and clear, not ideal for this stretch which is dominated by slow flowing water. Managed some nice fish though, barbel of 8.12, 9.09 and 2 between 6 - 7lb, one of the chub was 5lb+.
One issue with a far bank angler setting up pretty much opposite one of our swims where we were already fishing - it’s a shame not all anglers are considerate of others.
Would like to fish the stretch again in high water conditions.

Tricky day on this beautiful stretch of the Wye. River was very low and clear but we managed to sneak a few out from the beach area. Although it's expensive we love this beat and it's just a wonderful place to fish especially in the sunshine we had.

River was low and clear which made it hard to get bites during sunny spells. Bites came when light was low. Fished several spots on this lovely fishery and found a spot which has clearly not been fished too many times and thats where we found some fish. All fish came from this spot. Biggest barbel just over 8 pounds. Some swims definitely require a rope which I will bring next time. Lovely looking stretch and many interesting swims. Most fish came to big chunks of spam. Lovely beat and requires work and thinking to get bites but rewarding once you find fish and crack the code.

First time fishing this section, the river was very low and the air temperature had dropped. Parking was very close to the river and pretty easy to find. Started at the top of section catching plenty of small chubb to 2lb. Worked our way down the section and found the bigger chub with fish to 4 and 5lb. And then two barbel one around 4lb and a very low lean fish that weighed 7lb 10.

Water very low and clear, mainly used feeder or bomb. Throwing it down with rain most of the morning. Tried various tactics re feeding or not as the case may be to no avail. Just the one Chub, nice one at about 4lb. I think I was at too shallow a swim but couldn't be bothered to move due to the rain! Next time I will try further up the beat where it looks deeper and slower.
