Afternoon fishing at the Brook. 19 trout, 5"- 10", size 14 Klinkhammer.
Took a bit of gambling on dog walkers this afternoon. Unfortunately it didn't pay off. The hot weather seemed to bring many dogs out and they all wanted to cool down in the river.
Fishing was good as long as the dogs didn't go in. All the stretch with clear water produced fish. Sadly it was only half of the Brook.
Will try early morning next time before the season ends.

Tough day! 1 barbel & missed a couple of timid bites. The croys seemed to have been dismantled somewhat during the heavy rainfall of Jan, Feb & Mar and I lost 3 lots of tackle on rocks under water in an area where I did not have any trouble in the past. No many swim choices on Wyebank. It could with some work to give a some access in the lower part of the beat.

Never fished stretch before, access is great and in good conditions can take car behind all pegs which helps on such a long beat, started at top just above Salmon croynes had 3lb Chub first cast on float fished banded pellet thought I would empty it, and then nothing,
In the afternoon moved to bottom of the beat had a chat with other angler he had caught well but was moving to the top of the beat. Fished last peg on the beach had 2 Barbel biggest 8.5lb and a lot of small Chub about a 1lb and a huge Dace about the same size and a surprising Perch again caught on float fished banded pellet.
Changed to feeder due to getting tired on float had a further 6 Barbel all about 5lb.
Lovely water, beautiful setting, only problem was dog walkers letting dogs go in the river even next to where you are fishing . They can access water over foot bridge I can imagine it is nightmare on a weekend.

Just a lovely day on a wonderful beat. This one has become a regular for us. It was a very bright day with water clear enough to put a slide of lemon in. Very little surface activity reflecting a dribbly and varied hatch. Upstream methods were tried and found to be unsuccessful - although on a day such as this it didn’t seem to matter that much. Reverting to downstream nymphs produced a series of takes and eventually a couple of fish, initially at the bottom and then again at the top. Fished the top and bottom but not the middle. All fish to assorted versions of gold head PTN.
Kingfishers, wagtails, dippers, buzzards and all manner of other creatures to keep us company and amused.

A bright day, but most of the river is in the shade. A lot of glare even with polaroid glasses. Fished from 11-5. Gin clear, good flow but quite low - we haven't really had any rain for a few weeks now. Fished the beat upstream from this one a few weeks ago and caught big fish, so I was a little surprised that all of fish this time were quite small. The biggest was about 12".
