River is already low and very clear. No rises in the morning and did spot a few May flies. Afternoon many more rises although small. A lot more May flies in the afternoon. Caught two brownies roughly 1.5-2lbs on a slow sinking nymph. Tried dry emergers but no takes. Second brown caught was injured, possibly Cormorant.

A great day to fish a beautiful beat.
Sadly the fish did not participate but it was peaceful and novel to enjoy the water without canoes.
If you’re planning to cross the bridge between banks half way along the beat please be aware that the Forestry Commission have closed it due to flood damage.

Having had to cancel my trip to Ireland what a relief to be able to got out fishing. Weather seemed warmer than expected with the river low but fishable. Plenty of small Upwinged Flies and the odd Mayfly. Fished the whole beat using dry fly, initially a size 14 Adams then a Mayfly. Caught 8 good trout (all returned), biggest 13 inches. Great day.

Met the local pack on arrival at Hunton Bridge also out for its daily exercise. Found the river low and clear where there was good flow, with what appeared to be some eutrophication in the slower sections and margins. A couple of rises early on while the sun shone and eventually a decent brownie took the Adams under Titley Bridge. Two more to the net, three self-released and several missed takes in the deeper pools made for an entertaining day. There was an occasional mayfly about and a brief flurry of activity mid p.m. Great to be out again.

So good to get out on the River ! - and in such a fantastic location. Water was low and clear, so we could wade for long distances up and down the Beat, and despite long periods of bright sunshine the trees provided good cover (if a little challenging !). Abundant fly-life provided some great sport using dries, and heavier nymphs secured some nice Grayling from the deeper pools.
As ever, many, many thanks to WUF.

Cracking day fishing hard going as the river was very low and could doing with some water through. Lots of fallen trees in the river which requires removing ,.Plenty of flies hatching which was nice to see the mayfly coming off but the fish were not actively taking them.
Managed to catch 2 beautiful wild brownies up to a pound , First fish taken on a size 16 caddis fly and the second fish on a size 22 parachute.
Fish easily spooked so was pleased I took my knee pads as lots of crawling to get near to fish as with overgrown trees etc casting was difficult to say the least on my 6 ft hand made rod on a dry line on a very short leader for extra accuracy.
All in all a very enjoyable day and look forward to trying again once it's had a rainy day.
