Bright dry day, but a pretty severe downstream wind picked up and it was no fun after that. Not been to this beat before. Plenty of water was really slow and not much doing - I suspect would be much better when the level is up a bit.
Sadly I didn't make it down to the bottom of the beat. As someone with a significant dog phobia I was horrified by the disclaimer for injury caused by farm dogs!

Take the kids fishing they said!!!!!!!! Mmmmm!!
Not a bad beat for a few hours. River was low but in great condition.
A few rising fish and plenty of insect life about. We didn’t manage to tempt any to take our fly offerings. The fact that my 12yr old at one stage started throwing stones into the river didn’t help????♂️She was put right quite quickly.
Parking was great and a short walk to the river. Despite the synopsis on the Passports website nothing can be fished from the bank, you have to do some wading, thigh waders will suffice. The wading though is pretty easy all round.
Fishing Passport Note : At present, the current very low water levels will be a factor for not being able to fish from the bank.

Some nice sized trout today, biggest a pound and a half. Gold bead nymphs particularly effective in the coloured water which was up a foot or so overnight but dropping by the time I packed up at 5.30pm.
Very few rising fish and not many hatching insects in a blustery breeze.
Put a salmon fly through the low water catches in case anything crept up. Nothing seen.

Finally some rain! A short late afternoon visit to the Fechan. Was a slight beer tint to the water which helped, although the river wasn't as high as I'd expected it would be. Plenty of nice fish coming to 'scaled down' Euro nymph, ranging from 7 to 13 inches. Silver beaded flies working best.
