Fished for a week on Aber AA llyns. Stayed in a caravan on llyn Frongoch (See Aber AA website for details). This was a family holiday, so fished for a few hours each day. Tried 6 of the llyns. All fished very well - a mixture of rainbows and wild browns on Frongoch (Rainbows to 3.5lb browns to 1lb+) . The other llyns produced mostly wild browns (and a few stocked) to just under 2lb. These lakes are hardly fished, yet they offer some of the best value stillwater trout fishing in Wales (£20 day ticket covers 24 hours fishing, and the River Rhiedol for sewin!) Magnificent scenery too.

Well plumbed for Talybont today , after a look at the weather , still that niggling Easterly gggrrrr !!!!!!! But gave it a bash . . . . Turning up at half nine , things didn't look bad , although the sun was starting to poke through , ever good here fussy fish these Talybont brownies !!!!
Was seven degrees when I tackled up , firstly a Peter Ross , and bloody Butcher , top team for searching out hungry brownies , thinking I may get some interest in them , well having tried every thing over three hours , including a black tadpole with hot orange head , not a sniff, in fact it was totally dour to say the least !!!!
The wind was changing direction regularly and making the day really difficult , tied a good coverage of the Western shore , and even worked two buzzers enticingly in the current !!!!
Hind sight is a wonderful thing , perhaps Bugeilyn may have been a better option today , that wind here was crazy and one minute from dam end up to the top , then next minute totally the opposite , shall not be defeated , and will give it another bash sooooooon , although paying a bit more attention to the weather and stay till last light , after all it's a hundred mile round trip and thirteen quid , so nice to get the most out of it !!!!! Ha ha !!!!
That said still a cracking place to have a blank , beats being at work any day of the week !!! Shall return ready for a rematch with Salmo Trutta of Talybont !!!!!!! Happy days !

Nice wide beat, probably better in lower flows but 6 nice wild browns up to 12" taken on downstream nymphing with perdigons and GRHE. Sewers at bottom of beat were a bit whiffy though!

I spent the day with 3 newbies, who all caught fish swinging spiders. Challenging conditions with a gusty wind but when it dropped, the sun came out and LDO's made an appearance. Around 1pm, the hatch was at it's best with fish rising everywhere for around 15 minutes. Always an impressive place to bring people, a great day had by all.

First time on the Taff (near Merthyr Vale). If you can look past the ubiquitous littering, it is a pretty river and certainly looked 'trouty' yesterday. I was quite hopeful as the temperature had picked up from the previous day and there were plenty of olives about. However, in the 3 hours I was there I didn't see a rise . Tried my best with the duo as well but to no avail. Might be worth coming back here with a guide sometime, as I've heard such promising things about the Taff.
