We fished either side of the fishing hut in what looked ideal conditions. Feeder and trotting float tactics were employed using pellet and meat for hook bait. The majority of fish caught were small chub and one dace. We did have a couple of chub in the 3 - 4lb bracket but no Barbel.

WUF please note - on the map for this beat you have the wrong access route around the field for to the Fishing Hut. It should be left once in the field and then right parallel with the river and not right then left as you currently have it, Thank you.

Bright day, river low but brown colour again, caught all fish on meat and pellet ledgering
Swims were nicely strimmed back, hopefully they will be next time when we return, banks are a bit steep but OK for us

Nothing caught but several good size fish showing. Gillie came down and gave us some tips which was really appreciated. Lovely day, thank you.

River quite high, ledger fished from last swim on right bank using a variety of baits, pellets and meat

Three small trout on dries... also pulled large flowering Himalayan balsam plants at the several of the strimmed access points to the river. As part of the wider efforts to clear HB from the Monnow completely, perhaps the beat owners / managers could be briefed to keep an eye out for these plants and pull them on sight, rather than relying on anglers being informed enough to do so?

A nice day on this beat, sadly no barbel again! All fish caught on meat either feeder or rolling. Fish to 3.12.

Fly fishing 0900 - 1330. Cloudy with gusty north westerly breeze. Very few fish rising. Awkward to cast in gusty wind, water too calm where sheltered . Four trout eventually.
