Lovely crisp day with a blanket of snow on the ground, would’ve made a lovely photo opportunity with a pike but it wasn’t to be. Two rods fished dawn til dusk with ledgered dead baits. One take missed and another fish lost, both took a sardine. Beautiful stretch of river, will definitely be back for revenge!

With the river higher than preferred - well over 2ft at Llanstephan- conditions weren’t really suitable for fly fishing but, with a window of good weather, we gave it a try. The level and pace of flow prevented us from getting into the best positions and no fish were caught. Will be back once the weather improves and the level drops.

With the river rising, gale force winds from the north west and the temperature dropping 5 degrees since the day before it meant that conditions were not best. 2 Otters playing in the river didn't help either.

Hardstanding parking was great and 4x4 access to halfway down the stretch looked good to; for those who dont have it the walk is flat but travel light as its a good walk!

The pegs/swims from the weir garden down to the end of the stretch had reasonable access (for the wye) although some of the overhanging trees at the weir garden needed tending to so that anglers can fish in winter (I guess in summer it would be ok). The access to the fast shallow run above the weir garden (for Grayling and Trout) was poor needing over grown brambles cutting back. The access to the deeper water at the top of the section was non existent; totally overgrown. All of this work would take very little effort from the fishery owner; a couple of days work at most - for the money charged customers should get a better experience!

On the right day the fishing here I believe would be exception however we only managed 5 minnows and 1 small pike.

First time fishing this stretch and tried trotting for Grayling with no success. Weather about 7 degrees and heavy rain and times. Wading in fast conditions was tough in places. Will be back in more clement conditions.

My luck had to run out sometimes. It is January after all :)
A dull drizzly day with real gusty wind but still manageable.
Only manged three nice big chub and pulled out of two on the maggot. Tried pellet too but just really slow going.
River was rising steadily all day with a little debris coming down. I think the river temperature had a lot to do with the hard fishing. Was just over 4 degrees. Still a nice day out and hope for a visit next month when the snow has been and gone.
Got drenched when i packed up as the heavens opened. Home for a hot bath!
