Familiar story, the catchment desperately needs water! I know this beat really well and have a pretty good idea where the fish lie. Not today as the lack of water changed the script. Sadly there are fallen trees obstructing 3 of the deeper pools. Not usually a problem as there are so many other good casts. Today it nullified some of the only likely spots for bigger fish. Managed 7 wbt of a variety of dries, all returned, but all small to 7".
However, safe to say, Hergest on a bad day is still a pretty good day!

2 fish landed in the first 3 casts. River running low and slightly coloured which was weird as reports of friends fishing further down at Hergest and Aberedw were of gin clear water. Cloudiness may have helped. I fished consistently on a grey spider pattern (not sure what it is to be honest but picture attached). Most fish around 6-8" but a couple at 10.

Beat:Upper Cilieni
Fishing:Trout (River)

I and another Wild Stream Permit holder (P.D.) spent a couple of hours on this beat starting around noon. We both drew a blank although I had a number of refusals using a deer hair sedge pattern. The beat is very fishable following the winter stream clearing but it is probably a little too early for the beat to start working.

A glorious day. The fish didn’t co-operate but nature did. A terrific beat: good directions, pools well signposted; plenty of benches. All round a well kept beat that’s a pleasure to fish. Thank you WUF. Very slippery underfoot so a wading stick is a must. PJ. London.

Beat:Holme Lacy 3 and Lechmere's Ley
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:1
A beautiful day on Holme Lacy 3 with the river in good condition and the beat immaculate thanks to Colin's hard work. The only thing missing were salmon; no fish seen and none caught! Colin's theory is that the spring fish went through on the high waters of March and April and the back up fish have not yet arrived. Disappointing in fishing terms but a great day out in a wonderful location.
