River looking good with reasonable flow and just a tinge of colour. Weather overcast, drizzly and cool. Most of the activity came in mid-afternoon with a solitary chub around 17.00 and nothing after that, though I fished until 18.30. Barbel up to 7-5, all on pellet or meat.

The river was low and slow. Looking to catch barbel, we used swim-feeder tactics with boilies and pellets. Typically my fishing buddy managed to find three barbel and I just managed one chub. None of them were big fish. We have had better days on the Wye and indeed at the Creel. Suspect the conditions were a factor, though I also think I had the wrong bait.... again. Bad hands Benfield and Neil.

Conditions were near perfect despite the wind, but not fish were showing. I had 3 shy-takes, presumable from salmon, but none were really hooked. At about 14:30, my new rod snapped mid-section and i hadn't brought my spare. A miserable end to the season!
