Sadly the heavy rain from the night before had left the river swollen, fast and brown. It was a real shame as this beat looks fantastic and very fishy! We thought we should just crack on anyway and cover the water (what we could). We fished around 2-3 hours in the morning with nothing and returned after a BBQ lunch and carried on. 2 fish came to the hand, each 6-7 inches, one on a fritzy wet-fly the other on a gold head hares ear. Would love to go back and fish this water again if I get the chance and in normal conditions.

Great day on Fownhope 5. Pellet and feeder tactics took most fish with rolling meat taking a few of the chub. Good fun, looking forward to returning with friends in September.

Nice to be back on this beat and find a few fish after a tough session a few weeks ago. All fish to pellet, no feeders in sight mind! Its amazing how a little extra flow helps your leads find the rocks. Lots of tackle swallowed by the Wye but it was worth it. All barbel between 6 and a half and 8 and a half pound, a bigger average size than we have found here before. Left absolutely soaked. If I hadnt had my dog spike and rope I may still have been sat in my peg now!

River was low and clear and was a challenge to find the fish, never the less a fantastic stretch with great wildlife and scenery.
The stretch is still over grown up river so it would be good to have that section cleared so to access more fishing.
Great to see the electric fence in place, not sure the cows are happy as the cannot reach the river but for the anglers it give you peace of mind your not going to a cow or 2 in your swim.
