The river was low and clear and looked very beautiful. Weather cloudy in the am and sunny pm. Water temperature 12C, 54F. Wading precarious in places. 8 trout, 4 on dry flies, 4 on nymphs. The best was a terrific fish of 17", estimated just under 2lb. (Apologies for the old currency. Most of the action was before 13:00. Only saw 1 MB and one LDO ! Only 3 fish seen rising.
The track down to the river (in dry conditions) is now part of a field of wheat. I parked beside the canal.
Lovely day.

Low clear water. Ongoing LDO hatch brought the fish up. Caught on dries and nymphs.

Hatch lasted barely 20 mins - an hour yesterday - fewer fish showed. Spent a good few hours with wets, hooked one briefly. Beautiful weather, pretty easy wading and a truly lovely bit of river made it a memorable trip all the same. I’ll be back later in the season to try again

Around mid-day there was a hatch of March Browns which only lasted around 1/2 hr. I used a March Brown Jingler size 10 which worked really well. The fish are in the riffles. Even after the hatch had finished and the fish stopped rising, they could be caught in the riffles with this fly, on a speculative basis . Technically, I should have recorded a zero catch as all 8 came off the hook. These wild fish fight hard, jump out of the water and shake their heads, and its not possible to retain them with a barbless hook. There were olives about throughout the day but the fish weren't interested in them. At least I didn't have to unhook any of the fish! Good luck.

Lovely day, spring sunshine, which should have warmed the water a bit. A very brief March Brown hatch, started at 11.30 and lasted about 15 minutes which livened things up, but that was it!

Wow what a superb morning....A real wild streams morning too!! Fished the upper section of this beat , tackling up at ten....lovely to be fishing the little mega light, six foot, one weight, after four cracking days fishing my local big wild reservoirs of the Elan Valley !!! Great early season sport too, with some belting fish to my net ...
Anyway, Large Darks on the go as soon as I entered the river ...ohhhhhhhhhhhhh she is low, a good six or eight hours of the wet stuff needed....Fifteen degrees today..Felt almost summer like too ...Plenty of insect life too ...A few March Brown's by half twelve .
First fish absolutely nailed my dry .....in the rifgley stuff where the olives were dancing !!! Only eight inches but hugely welcome .... Having had a few good fish on streamers in the Elenydd early season, was sooooo nice to catch them on the refined method ....my favourite too !!!! Second fish aas a belter, tight in thr marginal undercut bank, came out with a confident splash ...lovely fish ...my last two were in deep pool heads in the long Riffley stuff, again only wee fish, but a superb three hours sport on one of my favourites ...Back on thr lovely Edw and Arrow soon .... They take their time cause of the river location and they stay pretty cold till we get plenty of the warm bright ball in the sky ...Then the Arrow, Edw and Lugg will kick into gear ....About two of three weeks i reckon if the weather behaves . On another wild stream beat in a couple of days ....Nantymoch Reservoir with a buddy from Rhayader tommorrow ...A fab session, dippers seen , bumblebees busy on the banks, bullheads under stones, olives dancing over the fast water, ohhhh and a thick bit of fondant on the cake, four cracking Ithon fish on the dries ....Happy days !!!!
