not a nibble from 8:00 am to 1:00pm using spinners, float and ledger in a variety of areas on the house side of the reservoir and thought best to give up the ghost, the only positive was the weather!

5 caught to nymphs in a 1hour period between 11a.m and twelve noon , with 4 being lost near the net . There was a very brief hatch of march browns which rose several fish but by the time I'd got second rod off backpack it ended and the river died instantly . I went back to nymphing for an hour but not a touch . Nice stretch of water the few hundred metres I fished

Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect early Spring day. Having worked my way up from the bridge I was lucky enough to arrive at the riffly pool half way up the best just when the hatch started. By the time it ended - not much more than forty five minutes later I’d somehow managed to catch six (and dropped two more). All on a jingler. My remaining fish came on a nymph. A beautiful day.

We failed to capitalise fully on a nice hatch of March Browns between 12 and 1pm, though in fairness there wasn’t a sustained rise. I did manage a stunning 19” fish which was voraciously feeding on emergers on a deerhair and quill pattern and lost two other nice fish. My friend also chipped in with a 15” fish on nymph. A glorious day to be by the river.

Good little stretch of river, cloudy conditions put a stop to the hatch, still managed a trout of about 3 lbs on the dry fly, careful wading tho as is very slippery and the current can be quite strong around the pools.
