I can assure R.B. from Bromyard that he must have caught this beat on a bad day, having said that, it can be "peggy" and some clearance works are required. £15 for Grayling is ok but, you would be upset to pay £25 in peak summer and have a number of glides and pools covered by fallen trees/over hanging branches. May be something for WUF to consider in their next round of work party duties?
Anyway, back to the fishing (& no exaggeration required). I can normally expect to hoover a few more out but the river is extraordinarily low and, bright conditions, whilst handy for the angler, are never that great when the river is so low & clear. I picked up some nice fish towards the top & bottom of the beat, with a few Grayling (about a pound) falling to thoroughly explored weighted nymphs.
Very enjoyable day but would benefit from a work party asap.

Fished with one friend. Saw one running fish and moved another one to the fly, or at least spooked it with the line ! No pulls, but a beautiful day in the Autumn sunshine.

Haven't been here since it was part of Abercynrig. There are good places to find salmon but no sign here today. The water was pretty low and clear and will likely remain that way until the season ends.... It looks like the season will just whimper out again.
I did catch 4 trout. It still amazes me that they take my salmon flies with 15lb line! All were safely returned.
There was an awful lot of plastic bottle waste present, not to mention bits of car and a bicycle in the river. I have written to the WUF about this.
WUF Note: We have spoken to the owners representative about this

What a lovely day for a spot of fishing. I arrived at 7am and headed for the bay, a couple of anglers already set up when I arrived. I had a single trout on a spinner which pleased me as I was trying a new rod (10-30g 7ft spinning rod bought from China) and it cast well and allowed the rainbow to give a good account of itself. I also tried worm under a float and on the bottom with and without a pop up but to no avail. The anglers to my right caught a few on the bottom. I left at 11am well satisfied with my session in a lovely location. It was pleasing to see that the banks were free of litter.

We arrived at the Fishery at 7-30am to find the river low and clear. I managed to catch 3 chub on pellet to about 4lb from under a tree about halfway along the stretch up to 3pm. After speaking to Glynn he advised us to fish the fast water at the top of the stretch. We tried various methods and baits to tempt the barbel but all to no avail. Low and clear water meant we were going to struggle which proved correct. We just got our timing wrong but living 120 miles away it is difficult to visit at the drop of a hat when the river is in top condition for the barbel. Maybe next time! Lovely accessible stretch!
