Great beat, with some good looking swims. liked the short walk from the parking. The river looked perfect and the weather was mild for the time of year. Struggled a little for bites but 3 barbel landed and 3 chub. Wish we lived closer to the Wye, as it's very well run.

Fished from around 10 - 6 with some breaks in between. Lovely beat, could have done with a touch more water but conditions were fishable with a fly. Fish showed in the tail of the drop-off at the top end of the beat but in slack water and impossible to swing a fly past and no luck when stripping past. Thanks to Barry for his advice on the phone, much appreciated. Will be back I'm sure.

A very long fishery and the party had to cover much of it to find barbel. They were not in a cooperative mood. Managed to bag 6 barbel between us (1 person had 3 of them) to 9-13. Chub were more cooperative, especially for the trotters. A few trout were caught but numbers were not recorded. As with White House, the best bet for barbel was single pellet with very light feeding. This beat offers a very wide range of fishing if you are prepared to walk a bit.

Superb day at Upper Bigsweir, quite a few fish showing and thankfully managed to hook one! A 6lb coloured hen fish. Fly was an Orange Tay Raider and caught in the Little Run.
Being a novice, the ghillie Nathan's knowledge and guidance was invaluable and I was very well looked after. Convert to salmon fishing and will definitely be back.
