2 fat eels and one chub all on luncheon meat from a swim halfway along the beat, just past the no fishing area I coming from L Lydbrook. Beautiful still day but I'm afraid my lack of knowledge in this swim, cost me. Could have been a much better day if I'd realised there was sunken boulders directly in front and three lost ledgers and swimfeeders later, I realised it and cast to the left instead.
However, stunning setting and I will fish it much better next time.

Water fairly low & clear after recent dry spell. A quiet & rather grey afternoon on bottom half of beat prospecting for grayling with nymphs & spiders without much success, other than a couple of out of season trout & missed takes. Good to get out on the river nonetheless.

River level near perfect, hardly any wind. All grayling fell to a pink shrimp on the top dropper with a gold head pheasant tail on the point to add some weight.

Both barbel came in the afternoon on Krill boilies. First one was a superb fish of 10lb 5oz, the second in the 6/7lb bracket. Prior to that I had lots of chub pulls but only two larger fish took the bait on the hair and the hook. I suspect with a shortened hair I could have had a chub a chuck.
Conditions very mild. little breeze and the river at a good height and colour.
