Nil return. Water fairly low although a few salmon moved in Lady Alexander's Catch. Pal contented himself with chasing the grayling and trout and had amazing sport with lots of fish up to 1 1/2lb of both species.

A frustrating start to the days fishing with anglers fishing from the opposite bank wading out and casting up close to pegs on the How Caple Court stretch, who then insisted that 1 of the rods in our party could not fish his selected peg as the fisherman/"poacher" from the other bank was fishing it for the following reasons 1. it was to shallow on his side 2. he claims to pay £500 a year to fish his stretch!!! Attempted to contact Wye & Usk on the 01982 560 788 number but was unable to get an answer !!!!
A few Barbel & Chub did eventual show later in the day.
WUF could really do with providing a number that can be answered over the weekend so these sorts of incidents can be reported ASAP and assistance sought from the baliff of the stretch.

Morning was very slow again - same as previous day. However the evening improved somewhat. 9 barbel were caught with the best a 11lb7oz PB for its captor. Don had just turned up to check on our progress and witnessed the fish and added to his reputation of being a lucky charm on the stretch. 7 of the barbel were caught in Legge Meadow, the other 2 were caught in the Boat pool in the downstream half of the beat. Again, groundbait/pellet was the successful bait.

The wading was half as bad as I thought it would be - I only filled one wader when I thought I'd fill both. I managed a couple of grayling to 14" and a little trout. I had a lovely day.

In my experience it's never a good sign when you catch first cast. I must've raised a million fish to my Adams but only a handful stuck. Thankfully the fifteen incher I hooked on my last cast hung on tightly.

Hot windy day. 2 chub caught, one at 3lb and one at 3 1/2lb. Both taken on luncheon meat. I used two swims in the wooded area which was well worth the effort of tramping through the nettles.

Low water conditions, cloudy with a strong downstream wind. Quite a hard day with, 15 fish caught on Duo and French leader tactics. Largest fish around 12 inches with the majority small. One large fish lost after a short fight in the gutter. There were a small number of surface feeding fish in the Bridge Pool. These were taking very small terrestrials and midges with the occasional upwing. Very spooky and difficult to present a fly to given the conditions.

A nice day that included a sandwich and a pint in the Clytha (no need to take your waders off in there).
