Fished 3pm until late evening. Had a swirl at the tube fly in Stone Catch. There is something big there!

2 rods, one salmon and one trout. Arrived early and water was clear but low. Salmon rod fished above the bridge with Flying Cs, Mepps and Devon minnow with no success. No salmon seen. Fly rod fished below the bridge. A lovely stretch of river but limited to about 100 yards because access is difficult due of heavily overgrown steep banks. Tried wets, nymphs and dries but nothing caught which was probably due to my skills and the need to master roll casting. Had to leave at 5.30 when a limited amount of surface activity was starting.

Seven brown trout and one salmon parr taken on a beadhead nymph. Did have a couple of splashy rises to a klinkhammer but surface activity was sporadic. Nice stretch of river but wading is tricky and a wading staff strongly recommended.

Nil. Gave it about an hour with neither sight nor sign of any fish. The wading was very tricky and I called it a day before I fell in!

13.00 - 18.30, water level very low and clear, threw everything at it, twice! Raised a couple, pricked a few, no results. No hatch to speak of, surprising for such a warm day. A rather fine specimen broke the surface half way up the beat, caught me off guard and in my haste to target the fella my cast ended in the overhanging greenery. Never saw him again.

We had a great day on a very pretty stretch of the Wye. Our Guide Tim Lennon was excellenat and Don the owner was really helpful and a nice chap. One rod roved the river, and whilst it managed to hook a few from the top pool, sadly none were landed. I fished the bottom pool for 9 barbel to the 7lb mark and 2 chub. Being a Saturday the canoes were present in large numbers which I think must have slowed the fishing down somewhat. I will definitely be back to fish this stretch and Courtfield too. Thanks to Tim and Don for a really enjoyable day.

Fished all day saturday, river low and clear, first time on this beat, the owners have made access very easy, probably the best I have seen on the Wye. Very quiet area, only a few canoes so location and access fantastic. With the conditions the fishing was limited the area is shallow with a couple of deeper holes which are close in on the right bank directly in front of the fishing area so clear water does limit these. I managed 5 chubb on the left bank, two of which came on the float all in the 3 to 4lb range, one imediately below the bridge wading and 4 from the first platform. My fishing partner fished a few swims on both banks and had to wait until about 5pm to get his only fish of the day, a 5lb chubb. Variety of baits used, fish caught on meat or large bunches of maggots. Only had two bite on pellet.

Caught trout and parr, alas no salmon. The water was at a good height and very clear 1.5 mtr visibillty and fish could of run the total stretch in this height. The bridging plank has gone to walk out to the boards, which does make life difficult getting accros. Ok if your brave and have the balance of a mountain goat, its achievable but dangerous. We didnt see any fish show all day which was suprising. The bridging board needs replacing urgently before someone has an accident. The comment about felt soles and studs needs to be heeded, we both have the above and its still tricky. be carefull. Gromain great water to fly fish, always enjoy it, remember to ask for the padlock combination to use the hut.

Fished for 12 hours. Had a couple of good pulls both in Vanstone so was in the game but didn't come to anything. Few fish showing in Vanstone both early and late. Last time I was there I wrote that pool notes were wrong about the hight that left the stones in the Maddox exposed. On further examination I think one of the stones has been displaced by the floods. Explored upper half of beat more. There is a surprisingly large amount of nice fly water up there and it's not so hard to access. Pool markers would be helpful though.
