No fishing!
River in spate

2 small brown trout were caught and released on dry fly. Both were under half a pound.

The Fenni Fach stretch was very difficult to access in most places and we only found about 2 or 3 spots along the entire length that we could get a decent enough back cast, there were simply too many trees along the entire length. Admittedly the river was fairly high but even in normal conditions most of it would have been tricky to fish ( and we were wearing waders also ).

A first visit for my brother and I. The river had obviously receded by 7 or 8ft but a farmworker informed us that it was still 5ft up!. We found two nice looking slacks behind two promentories midway between the hut and the suspension bridge. Both swims proved to be tackle graveyards and feeder and lead losses were alarming. We have booked a return and hope for lower and clear water so that we might see just what we were casting into. I stuck with it for 9 barbel to about 8lbs whilst S C ventured down into the trees for 4 barbel of a smilar size. All taken on large elips pellets and feeder tactics. A word of caution, whilst the bank conditions were fine and allowed us to drive to the bridge in the morning, it was very different in the evening. No rain fell all day but the use of two tractors and a landrover in the field made the area in front of the gate onto the road almost impassable.

My father and I enjoyed two excellent days fishing. The river was very high and highly coloured, in fact it initially looked so flooded we had almost decided to abandon. After talking with a very helpful Allyson we gave things a go early the following morning and had some success. The first day was overshadowed by the next day, my father caught 5 barbel, the biggest being 8lb 10oz and 7 chub about 3-4lb. I caught 4 barbel and 4 chub being similiar sizes. In total we caught 28 healthy, hard fighting fish over the two days, a very good result and not what we really expected.
I hope I have similiar success when I return sometime soon.

River very high and pacey. Could only fish middle section in the edge, not enjoyable, 1 barbel 1 chub.

Water well up and coloured but fishable under your feet.
Had about 7 or 8 Barbel all on pellet with swimfeeder tactics. Brilliant day but could do with more swim choice. There are only about 4/5 swims in the meadow.

River 3.5ft up and holding. Fished the bottom end of the beat. 8 barbel caught from 4lb 8oz to 8lb and 6 chub to 4lb. Most fish caught on feeder fished halibut pellet.
Access to the bottom section of the beat is very good, though a car with sturdy suspension is recommended for the drive down! The top end of the beat has some lovely looking swims, but it's either a half mile hike along the river, or a very steep walk down the hill. With brollies and waterproofs it could be a bit much!

29 barbel upto 9lb 12oz and 15 chub upto 5lb, mainly caught on pellet with a few also on meat. Some swims very snaggy but these produced the most fish and took the most terminal tackle. A few fish had other hooks in their mouths with one fish having 2 hooks from battles it had previously won. Travel light as it is a fair walk from the parking areas.

Nil return.
