A very strange day. Only the one bite despite searching much of the beat. Lots of fly life but no surface activity. Lovely stretch.

Somewhat diappointed that none of the banks had been cut and access to the swims was very difficult.

4 anglers fished mainly leger/feeder tactics, very hard going with the fish in one specific spot lower down the beat. River at normal summer level and rose a few inches whilst we fished.

Arrived early Monday morning rain fell for the first couple of hours in which the river rose slightly which aided catching our first few fish in the first couple of hours. Caught Barbel ranging from 7lb 6oz to 8lb 4oz and Chub from 2lb to 4 1/4lb all caught on pellet. Fishing dried up in the afternoon.

I didn't have a single bite all day :( Having spoken with Woody @ Woody's Angling in Hereford he informed me that this was widespread across the whole Wye with nearly ever angler blanking - apparently simply due to the fish still or just having finished spawning, following the late spring we've had this year.
First blank ever on the Wye!! I suppose there's a first time for everything...
I will have to revisit and correct this blank very soon!

Wow, a second Wye blank in as many days. This late spring spawning really has screwed up the start of the season!
The main annoyance with this stretch is that they really need to make more swims available - 3 prepared swims throughout the best part of the water (faster water on the lower half) really isn't enough. Some of the best potential swims are just not reachable - not without a machete anyway!!
I think three or four more swims through that faster water would make a real improvement to the potential fishing here.

All salmon caught on spinner. 1 from Bridge pool, 2 from Island Stream. River 2', cloudy - algae? Few fish showing but beat had a bonanza that day. Weather dull, turning sunny and warm afternoon. 2 fish weighed 13lbs and 1 13.5lbs. All in excellent condition, fresh and silver.
Foundation's services very good.
