First visit to the Rectory Beat & found the river at about 1ft 4inches. Fished the Rocks with floating line & slow sink leader, size 8 fly. Soon had a nice BT ( 1lbs 4oz ) & then lost a bright silver fish of 8 to 10lb from the side of the big rock! Saw one other running through but regret no further contacts. Lovely beat can not wait to get back early June. Fingers crossed for more water! Thanks go to all at Wye & Usk Foundation for their help.

Lovely sunny day and a gentle breeze in the Clettwr valley. River very clear, and plenty of olives and others around, however not many trout rising yet, must happen soon? Caught 4 of 8/9" each and scared or missed a few. On different paras, from different runs searching the water.

A lovely place to fish - a great recommendation from the Booking Office! Cool (13-15 degrees) with some patchy sun. A lot of fly life hatching consistently through the day but almost no activity on the surface.
Fished the bottom section, from 1 - 6pm, up through the pools. Largely using a size 14 rust-coloured hi-viz klinkhammer, with a size 16-14 weighted PTN 18 inches underneath. Had about 10 trout of 4-10 inches, two on the klink and the rest on the nymph. I missed a hatload more and some interest to a dry fly from the one consistently rising rish I did see (missed it twice!). I'll be back to explore the top end!

No salmon caught and no fish seen running, a little coloured and probably a bit to high, should be good for the weekend. I did catch a Shad accidentally, a first for me it took a 1.5" Cascade.

A bright, blustery day with the cool wind coming downstream. I spent about six hours on the beat and didn't see a single fish.

Lovely beat. Sadly the weather meant very few fish on top despite huge hatches coming off about 2pm. A parachute olive did the trick between 2 & 3pm. Fish in good condition.
