Water very churned up, chocolate in colour and current was very strong, obviously due to the recent rain.
Saw nothing rising when I arrived (11:30am) and that was pretty much how it stayed all day, I left just before 7pm. Managed to get two out on a Hares Ear nymph, one with gold bead and one without, I was even more impressed as I had tied the flies myself and was convinced they probably wouldn’t work . 1st was about 8 inches and second about 12. Both were caught early/ mid afternoon.
Sadly not all the best is accessible, the path is no longer there which effectively cuts the best in half. I have emailed the office about this and hopefully it can be rectified for next season
Would definitely fish the beat again but once the whole beat is accessible

Heavy rain presented high water and a fast current. We initially fished near the boat pool but we needed over 6 ozs to hold. We moved back upstream to slower water where we could use 3 ozs bait cages. 2 barble on pellets, 7.5 and 8.5lbs. I changed to luncheon meat and caught 2 eels. Stopped before 5pm due to torrential rain.
A challenging day and wondered what it could have been with improved conditions.

Heavy Rain produced a very high river with a fast current. We initially fished near the Boat Pool but it required over 6ozs to hold against the current. We moved upstream to Legg Meadow Pool where slower water was easier to fish. Using pellet (small boilies), 2 barbel, 7.5 & 8.5 lbs. I changed to luncheon meat producing 2 eels. We left the bank before 5pm due to torrential rain, left wondering what might have been if the weather had been kinder.

About 3.5 hours on a wet Sunday afternoon. Pink tag on the point fly, Black Pennell and Partridge and Yellow on droppers. Grayling seemed partial to the Partridge and Yellow, oddly. They usually take pink. Trout unfussy. Sometimes the fishing gods are kind. Everything back bar one for supper.
