Lots of good chub here. I decided to go all out for the barbel in the evening and switched from 8mm Robin Red to Hinders Barbel Bomb. Big mistake as I only caught one chub after that. This whole beat feels a lot more overgrown since I was here three years ago. I was in a pretty tight swim below the wood. It would not have been my first choice as the bank was steep and the grass was quite slippery in the wet but my options felt limited. I am already booked in for next week so I shall scout the beat in advance to see what better swim options there are. And I will leave the Barbel Bomb at home.

Access out of the fishery requires a mirror on the opposite side to see oncoming traffic. Can’t see over or through the hedge and it’s dangerous.
Only negative otherwise a very well kept fishery. Superb first class venue.
Water condition low and warm ( low oxygen levels)
Wildlife in abundance/ well done land owner!
9 chub caught to 4lb.
Tactics float trotting and feeder / ledger meat.

Note that the suspension bridge has collapsed and looks to be unrepairable. This means that it is not possible to fish below Beech Pool unless you can wade across the river. OK in the current low water, but be very careful if the river gets much higher.

Blank for one , 3 chub for another and 2 chub 2 barbel for me. Saw fish rolling just out in the river in the swim with the concrete ramp. Noticed it about lunchtime and witnessed it around 20 times. Too murky to identify whether it was barbel or salmon. No bites from them . Weather was pleasant and river running through nicely

2 Barbel, 5 Chub
