An excellent beat - all the best features of the Usk in one, relatively, small stretch. The water level was on the low side (0.69), however the riffles and 'pocket water' proved the most productive. Only three fish in the net but plenty more on, albeit briefly. Very few risers and all fish and takes came to bead head nymphs fished on the Euro rig. A splendid day on the river.

No salmon caught but quite a few seen - both resident and running fish. The river was carrying a lot of colour after the recent rain.

Caught a shad on the fly in the stones pool.

A lovely day on Trelough. Weather was a mixed bag with warm westerly winds and periods of both heavy rain and hot sun. Float fishing luncheon meat in a quiet corner of the lake I lost two and ended the day with a nice 10lb common carp on my last cast. I love this place. Thanks WUF.

I fished Dywarchen. Too windy for the boat so fished from the bank and had lot’s of action with a Klinkhammer and small Caddis Pupae. Had lot’s of takes and hooked 10 and landed 8 between 8am and 12 noon. It then went quiet so I had a break and came back in the evening at 7:30pm for the evening rise. Fish were rising everywhere but mainly out of range as I had chosen to fish from the bank again. Landed 4. All fish were returned and weighed between 1 1/2 to 3Lb.

Changeable weather. One minute sunshine, the next, torrential rain and wind. All trout, including one really good fish came to small dry flies during a short rise in the afternoon. I like this a beat because there is a good variety of water, it's very accessible and only extends to half a mile.
