Really nice spot though the canopy can be challenging at times wading was pretty easy and was no more than thigh height in most of the lower half of the beat. Due to the tight overhead vegetation, 7' really is the top end of rod length on this beat. Fished from 11.30 - 16.30, river was low and very clear. Spotting fish was pretty easy and saw many ranging up to about 10", some rising. First time out this year and with a brand new fibreglass rod, my casting was pretty shocking at first. Decided to fish the lower half of the beat twice as there were some nice ones I missed the first (and unfortunately second) time around. Finally got one 6 incher to rise to my size 16 CDC and Elk Hair Caddis mid afternoon - I rubbed his nose but I think he still went and told all his friends. Great day out nonetheless but if you are easing yourself back into it, I would recommend a beat with less overhead vegetation.

Very bright and very windy day which made it feel quite cold at times, despite it being around 13C in the lee of the wind. Casting a dry fly was extremely difficult and meant waiting for lulls in the gusts. In any event, despite the decent number of upwings on the water from 1030-1500 there was almost no surface feeding.
The river was low and extremely clear. Both trout were caught on very heavy weighted nymphs in the deep, fast water. About 7" and 10". The one fish that was spotted reusing on the flats went for a stripped quill emerger and a small olive but failed to get on the hook. It looked to be very small though.
A couple of groups of walkers stripped off to swim in the middle part of the beat, which felt brave with my thermometer telling me the water was 9C...

This is a stunning beat with loads of trout and stunning wildlife including sandpipers, hundreds of sand martins, curlew, and cetti's warblers.
I didn't fish much as I was teaching my 10 year old son. He loved it and cast his first ever dry flies to many rising fish - they rose well between about 12 and 5 in the sunshine despite a cool easterly breeze. He had lots of rises and hooked and lost 2 fish one of which was well over a pound.

Fished the beat with a good friend, and chose this beat so we could fish without getting in each others way.
Very low and clear water, combined with bright sunshine made for a very tough day. Wading was tough as the rocks were all covered with brown slime and algae.
Several fish seen, including a particularly large trout.
I finally managed the only fish of the day when I spotted a small rise, I cast a black clinkhammer to it and was rewarded with a feisty 10 inch fish.
Lovely beat but really needs some water.
