A red letter day! Not much happening late morning, although there were a few trout taking midges in slack water - caught a few of those by scaling right back to a size 22 midge pattern. Then a trickle of small mayflies started hatching and continued through the afternoon, whick kept the trout interested for the rest of the day - all caught off the top. Superb fishing, I was just thinking towards the the last cast of the day that the only thing it lacked was a big one (athough most fish beforehand were decent, in the 11-16" category) - when fittingly an 18"er turned up (and nearly made it under some willows, but today was obviously my day)! Fantastic fishing, thanks again!

Day 1 of 2. Far end of the fishery in the shallow water. Overcast with a bit of drizzle and hardly any wind which was perfect for fishing. There was also quite a bit of rain the previous day adding some extra flow which helped spark the Barbel into feeding. We had around 30 Chub between three anglers, 0.5lb - 2.5lb on mainly meat and corn and some on pellet and 8 Barbel 5lb - 9.5lb on mainly pellet.

Love this beautiful beat, has something for everyone, stunning location and is really well maintained.

Stayed down the bottom end, starting in the big "cut out" peg. I've done well on here before but after a few hours for one chub, decided to find the deeper water downstream resulting in loads of chub and a cute barbel.

Post lunch, dropped into the swim before it shallows up with the nice glide and had a fantastic few hours on the float (a chubfest on meat).

Got absolutely soaked for an hour but as soon as the rain stopped, the bites started. Almost one a chuck on secret pellets, including 3 good barbel.

Once we found the beat! - suggest directions need updating!
Beautiful setting opposite the weir gardens in glorious sunshine.
River coloured. Ledgered and freelined luncheon meat and cheese lost several swim feeders to unseen underwater snags.
