The second of my three outings on the usk. Having never fished the beat before I started nymphing the streamy sections in the absence of any rising fish and was fairly quickly into a couple of fish. Was quite hard going though until i moved up to the top pool around lunchtime where there were some fish rising. caught a couple on a cdc dun and a few more on a nymph under a dry. Another good day although failed to connect with some off the bruisers that ive heard inhabit this stretch. Cheers to Paul for the use of his phone to keep me from getting into trouble with the missus! Sounds like he had the right idea staying on late!

A few hours fishing in the afternoon produced 14 trout to 8".
All of the fish came to the dry fly, there were some mayfly coming off the water and so fished a large dry fly which produced plenty of rises.
A lovely stretch of water with plenty of woody debris to give good holding water to trout.
Worth a go.

A disappointing day - having arrived at crack of dawn, I did not catch anything apart from 1 Chub. Didn't have a pull or touch from anything resembling a Salmon. Saw one move but nothing. Work intervened at Midday, and I will bet that the fish started to be active late afternoon/ evening.
Met a very nice Gentleman on the beat, and I hope he had some luck as the day wore on!

JT and I arrived about 0930, refreshed from fishing another beat the day before. The beat is very popular on the opposite bank. It was like sitting in a telephone box listening to everyones conversation - hilarious.

After roaming around we settled on 2 swims and after a hard days fishing I managed 3 Barbel and a Chub, JT Had 2 Barbel and lost a monster!

Thanks for a great couple of days fishing Wye & Usk Foundation.

Fished in meadow due to higher than normal water level preventing fishing in my favourite wooded section. Several barbel to just over 8lb. Pellet, boilie and groundbait feeder tactics.
